Europe's sexiest hotel opens in London
It takes its design cues from the golden age of transatlantic travel - the Titanic age - and British designer Tom Dixon has certainly gone to town on this gorgeous new hotel. The Mondrian, London opened its doors this week, and could well be Europe's sexiest hotel - with gorgeous views down the River Thames. Guests checking in from the landlocked south side Upper Ground entrance of the building, are greeted by a burnished beaten copper hull ("nicked from the Cutty Sark just down the river") that pierces the glass facade, providing a canopy for retail outside and housing the reception desk inside. This sculptural element snakes from the lobby, leading through to the restaurant and bar on the riverside of the hotel.
